Electronic Prescription of
Controlled Substances (EPCS) is a rule by the Drug Enforcement
Administration (DEA) that allows pharmacies and practitioners
to process prescriptions for controlled substances using PKI
certificates to digitally sign ePrescriptions and validate the
signatures to ensure authenticity.
The rules are defined in Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 1311.
